|Over the last 16 years, Amy and Zach, and their son Gunnar, of Caldwell Sport have passionately focused on serving the world of elite Nordic ski racing and training with the highest level of expertise and integrity. Although Nordic skiing is their "life" during the winter season, summertime is when they play with abandon...and their toy of choice: mountain bikes! This is what makes the Caldwells and the West Hill Shop natural partners in the very best way. Better yet, they have spent decades as West Hill regulars and live just a short bike ride up the road. Stop in and wish them luck as they carry on the legacy as the next WHS generation. |
If you wish to contact them, you can email Amy or Zach.

Born as, but not known as, Phillip. Pip is our part time master mechanic and xc ski technician. He is also our in-house cross-road-mountain bike racer, architect, fiddle player, Putney Planning Commission member, Putney's Citizen of the Year for 2007, and the Shop's humble hard man. He now holds the title of the 2008, 2013 and 2014 National Cyclocross Champion for age 60+ category.
If you are ever looking for Pip, you'll find him at the shop's service counter eating his lunch.
Jordan is a U.S. Air Force veteran with mechanical skills from ten years of aircraft hydraulic systems maintenance. He comes to Putney from Gainsville, Florida with his wife (who grew up in Putney) and child (now with two kiddos). Yes, he is adjusting to the cold with lots of layers. Jordan worked as a bike service tech in the Florida bikes shops while earning his masters degree in Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs. His hobbies are studying for his licensing board exams, teaching Wing Chun Kung Fu, and trail riding.
Kirsten is a long time resident of Putney who's an avid cyclist and skier. She is a wellness coach and has a local massage therapy practice. For summer fun you'll find Kirsten riding her classic old Lemond Zurich on the road or shredding trails on her trusty new Liv Pique Advanced. Oh yes...and her Salsa Warbird Carbon Apex 1 for the dirt roads. Her wintertime ski fleet includes Nordic skating and classic, alpine telemark, and everything in between (Back-country, back hill, back yard!). Kirsten loves helping folks get into the right gear for any outdoor adventure...and no adventure is too small! Feel free to email Kirsten about anything related to Nordic skiing or cycling.
Todd still loves skiing as much as he did as a 5-year old jumping on what ever snow could be found in Baltimore, MD. Climbing and skiing have brought him to the Himalaya, the Andes, and most North American mountain ranges. As a mountain guide, outdoor education instructor, ski instructor and coach, Todd enjoys working with people of all skill levels and ambitions. He recently retired as the Race Services Director for Madshus USA. Other professional work includes environmental consulting, recreational planning and serving on the Lands and Trails Committee for the Windmill Hill Pinnacle Association.
Todd does our bike fitting and helps with photography, product testing and creative stuff. He's been riding and skiing the local trails on West Hill gear since his high school years in the early 1980's. A true Salsa Cycles fanboy, his bike collection is ready for any conditions on any day, stocked with a Warbird, Spearfish, Horsethief, Blackthorn and Mukluk. Todd is a college professor and physical therapist who has helped fit bikes to their people for over 30 years.

Owners emeritus 2004-2020. Jim and Diny passed the West Hill Shop torch on to the Caldwells on October 14th. Now they look forward to being customers, once again, of this iconic institution. Don't be surprised if you still find them hanging out in the shop, wasting the crew's time, as they reminisce, talk tech, and shop the latest and greatest. They will truly miss the awesome community of customers they have served. Now they are looking forward to having more time to fully enjoy the sports that they have supported over the last sixteen years. Look for them on the trails!
Diny or Jim can be reached by email.
