West Hill Group Rides & Events

Enjoy The Great Outdoors & Make New Friends

Going on a group bike ride is a wonderful way to enjoy the outdoors, get some exercise, and connect with others. Whether you're an experienced cyclist or just starting out, you are invited and encouraged to join us! Have questions? Give us a call or swing by the shop.

Monday Night Women's Gravel Ride

We will post all updates on the Strava Club listed below! Please follow this club to get updated information on the ride loops and any weather related news.

Another great group to join: Putney Women Riders Facebook Group

This relaxed gravel ride is for women riders who want to sharpen their group riding skills in a supportive group atmosphere. We welcome new riders, riders who are re-conditioning, and seasoned riders to share their skills. We ride for about 1.5 hours at a pace of 10-12 mph average speed. No one gets dropped! We will usually have two leaders so that we will have the option to split up into two groups.

Our routes are mostly on gravel with some paved and occasional class IV sections. Gravel worthy bikes are best and mountain bikes are discouraged unless you are incredibly fit. If you are wondering if you should join, please reach out to us at the West Hill Shop and ask for Amy or join the Strava group listed in this section.

If it is raining we won't ride. Sometimes we get back after sunset, so please wear brightly colored clothing and bring lights. We will also likely stay for a bit to socialize. Please join in and bring a snack to share.

Tuesday Night Ride

Join the Putney Bicycle Club every Tuesday night April - September. You can again choose to ride with the “B” group, which chats along the way at a relaxed 12 to 14 miles an hour, or the “A” group in a pace line, which averages about 18 miles an hour. Both groups will regroup periodically so that no one gets dropped. Rides start promptly at 5:00 p.m. so plan to arrive a few minutes early in order to receive a map and be greeted by your ride leader. Please feel free to bring a friend, and introduce your friend to the ride leader and other riders.

Wednesday Gravel Ride

Pete Rose and Justin Altman are organizing weekly Wednesday gravel rides, aimed at beginner to advanced riders with good fitness, or at least a willingness to suffer to keep up. Wheels rolling at 5:00PM prompt from the West Hill parking lot.

Ride plans will be announced in advance (when we are organized) and updated on Strava. Join the two strava clubs below to stay in the loop! First ride starts May 1st.

The pace may vary from relaxed to spicey. The Rad Bod ride tends to be the more fun ride while the Sh##head ride tends to be the faster ride. Pro-tip: if Aiden is on the front as the group rolls over the 91 overpass, then buckle-up buttercup.

Pete is kind of a fair-weather guy, and he doesn't like to get mud on his new West Hill kit, so the ride might be cancelled if the forecast is bad. Keep an eye on Strava and West Hill Shop's social media for updates.

Descents Of Putney Enduro Series

Yeah. That spells DOPE. Get it?

The DOPE Series offers something for everybody. Descents are moderately technical, but can be negotiated on XC bikes (with ride-arounds provided for scary features).

Pick your race! Results will be compiled for descents-only, climbs only, and total elapsed time.

Our first venue is established. Objective is to develop additional venues as the summer goes on.

Contact zach@westhillshop.com for details and to get on an email list for updates and discussion.
