Science & Insight In 2016 we launched the SES 4.5 AR, a wheelset ahead of its time. The SES 3.4 features road tubeless compatibility, 25mm tire optimization, molded carbon brake track technology, and optimized SES aero rim shaping to ensure maximum efficiencies for a shallow aero wheel. Equally at home in the mountains as in the valleys, the SES 3.4 is the most versatile Smart ENVE System aero wheel. Like all SES wheel models, the SES 3.4 features dissimilar rim shapes and geometries between the front and back wheels to maximize aerodynamic efficiency and rideability in variable wind and weather conditions. The front rim is 38mm deep and shallower than the rear rim to aid in crosswind stability while rear rim is 42mm deep and therefore improves overall airflow. Conceptualized for the cobbles of Paris-Roubaix through our partnership with Team Dimension Data, the SES 4.5 AR Disc was developed to deliver top-shelf aero performance, stability, and comfort for virtually any road surface. The SES 4.5 AR Disc borrows from ENVE's M Series carbon mountain wheel tubeless technology and features hookless beads. Hookless beads improve aerodynamic performance by aiding airflow from tire to rim as well as allow for the best tubeless tire performance possible. Like all Smart ENVE System aero wheels, the front and rear rims are specifically designed for the airflow seen at the front and back of the bike. The SES 7.8 embodies the latest SES technologies and includes our newest molded-in brake track and tubeless clincher tire compatibility. The SES 7.8 is wider and specifically optimized to perform best when used with a modern aero frame and large, 25mm tires. Full Details When the race is against the wind and the clock the SES 7.8 is optimized for the task. By reducing the trade-offs between aerodynamics, stability, weight, and stiffness, the SES 7.8 carbon fiber aero wheel is the perfect tool for road racing and triathlon alike. The SES 7.8 features front- and rear-specific rim geometries. The front rim is 71mm deep and 29mm wide, while the rear rims is 80mm deep and 27.5mm wide. The dissimilar rim geometries improve the efficiency of the airflow in the system of bike frame and wheels. Because running 25mm tires is now standard, the SES 7.8 was designed with larger tires in mind. Additionally, frame manufacturers are now producing frames that have more clearance between wheel and frame which has opened up the design scope for a wheelset.
