When I started riding, there wasn't much to bike sizing. You bought any frame that wasn't too big to stand over. You rode bent way forward like the guys, and if it hurt, well, it hurt. Eventually, I switched to a shorter stem to ease the ache in my back, but that was the only concession I made. When other female riders complained of seat or neck or shoulder pain, I thought What wimps! and told them, "e;You'll get used to it."e;-

Sara has raced (Tennessee State road and track champion), toured (Florida to North Carolina, Washington to Montana and more), commuted, ridden centuries (organized and self-inflicted), and triathloned (Lake Placid mini series and one longer) - she has written on cycling (Bicycling, Bike World, Adventure Cycling, and various newspapers), edited a bicycling repair book, and edited and wrote various books on sports and fitness. She has been a newspaper sports editor, magazine editor, and book editor. She graduated from Barnett's Bicycle Institute (and has a masters in journalism - Carleton University in Ottawa), worked at the old West Hill Shop two years, spent a year wrenching in Lake Placid, before spending two years working for the new West Hill Shop.
Sara has all-Campy Merlin and Cannondale R1000 road bikes, a Cannondale hybrid, a Specialized Stumpjumper, her old Holdsworth road bike and Roberts crit bike, plus others, including a folding Raleigh three-speed and an old Raleigh ten-speed.
