Meet Our Crew

The Sweitzers

Jim and Diny Sweitzer became the new owners of the West Hill Shop July 13, 2004. They have lived in Putney since 1998 and have two sons. The family all have participated in cycling and cross-country skiing throughout the years. Jim can be seen riding his Independent Fabrications Ti Crown Jewel painted in custom West Hill panels, his Salsa Pony Rustler plus bike or his Cannondale SuperX cross bike. Diny is either riding her Giant Avail Advanced road bike, her Giant TCX cross bike geared for the gravel roads, or puttering around on her Salsa Mukluk when the skiing isn't so great. During the winter months, they both wish for the fluffy stuff, whether for classic or skate skiing, or foraging in the woods for untracked powder.

If you wish to contact them, you can email Diny or Jim.

David Robb

David is West Hill Shop's manager with over 25 years of experience in the bicycle industry. An avid cyclist, his experiences range from being a Boston bike messenger in the early '90s and helping out in the early days at Independent Fabrications to serving as a race mechanic for several events and teams. David also worked as a mechanic and manager at several shops in the San Francisco Bay area. David moved to Brattleboro in 2011 with his awesome family. He's known in the shop as the ultimate problem-solver.

Got a question? Email David.

Pip Bannister

Born as, but not known as, Phillip. Pip is our partime master mechanic and xc ski technician. He is also our in house cross-road-mountain bike racer, architect, fiddle player, Putney Planning Commission member, Putney's Citizen of the Year for 2007, and the Shop's humble hard man. He now holds the title of the 2008, 2013 and 2014 National Cyclocross Champion for age 60+ category.

If you are ever looking for Pip, you'll find him at the shop's service counter eating his lunch.

David Townsend

David, referred to in the shop as "David T." (so as not to be confused with David Robb), comes to us as our new master mechanic. He brings years of service experience and has a passion for all things bike. His specialty is building wheels and tuning suspension. Outside of the shop, you will find him in the woods riding his Cannondale Trigger 27.5 or his Cannondale Fat CAAD. David also enjoys the finer things in life like home-roasting and craft-brewing single-origin coffee from around the world. He lives in Brattleboro with his lovely wife, Kaitlyn.

If you need service advice, just email David T.
